Vanessa Pickett

Vanessa is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Carolina. She received a Specialist’s Degree (EdS) in Psychology and Counseling from Arkansas State University and a Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Psychology from Lyon College. She has been a professional counselor since 2009 with more than a decade of experience in the mental health field. In addition to treating eating disorders, Vanessa also specializes in maternal mental health, supporting women and their partners though pregnancy, birth, and parenthood. Vanessa believes in honoring each client as an individual and provides a safe, confidential space for exploration, growth, and healing to begin. She treats clients holistically–considering the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of each person. Vanessa’s techniques are intended to assist with understanding or expressing self more fully, gaining insight, making desired changes, and assessing current behaviors. She uses cognitive-behavioral techniques, positive psychology, reality therapy techniques, and mindfulness training in working with clients. She incorporates EDIT™ principles to address body image issues and/or eating disorders.
