Murphy McCracken

Murphy has a Masters Degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She has a Bachelors’ degree in Painting and Drawing from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She has training in Family Systems Art Therapy. Her interest lies around working with attachment as it leads to eating disorders and addiction. Meditation, mindfulness and contemplative practice create a foundation for her therapeutic work. Murphy’s theoretical orientation is mindfulness-based, focusing-oriented art therapy, with a Humanistic and Transpersonal perspective. As a part of eating disorder treatment, Murphy offers her clients the option of art therapy as a part of any session – which can facilitate a deeper means of expression which goes beyond words. She emphasizes to her clients that it is not necessary to have any previous experience using art materials to participate in art therapy. She meets with clients at a private office location – ask for details.
