Christy Aquino

Christy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Northern Iowa, her Master of Education degree from Northern Arizona University and her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Lamar University. Christy is a therapist at UnityPoint Medical District Clinic and St. Luke’s Hospital.  Prior to becoming a St. Luke’s employee, Christy was the Director of Mental Health and Wellness at a local non-profit organization.  She has worked in a variety of non-profit settings including outpatient and residential treatment.  Christy enjoys being part of and influencing a system that can address transitions and resiliency.  She has experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, reactive attachment disorder, relationship issues, eating disorders, and life transitions. She is an Adjunct Professor at Kirkwood Community College, a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainer, and a certified Eating Disorder Therapist.  Christy serves on the eating disorder team, grief committee, facilitates the Empty Arms Group and an Intuitive Eating Group.  In her spare time, Christy enjoys salsa dancing, playing volleyball, being outdoors and spending time with her family.
